Chicago's Snowfall Record in Jeopardy?

Happy Groundhog Day. Well, Phil did not see his shadow this morning. You know what that means. Time to put away the snow shovels and get that lawn mower tuned up and ready to go. Spring is right around the corner.

Well, don't tell that to some in Chicago. I haven't researched Chicago's last 5 winters, yet, but according to this chart, the 20.2" that have accumulated thru 10:30am is the third largest snowstorm on record.

Pretty impressive. And lake effect snows were still putting down some hefty amounts as of this post.

Before the roads become completely cleared, thought you might want to check some of the traffic cams in and around Chicago. Here's a good site.

Closer to home, tracking a couple of systems you've probably already been made aware of. Keep track of the latest changes. Here's a GFS meteogram that is updated at least twice a day. Click on the pic below to enlarge and take note of the last rectangle. That's the one showing what type of precip to expect and how much (in liquid measure).

For the adventurous, you can peruse this site. Remember, all of this is for entertainment purposes and does not mean that this is how the weather will perform

That's all for now. I'll be checking back in later. Have a good day.
