Let's get to it. Here is a look at the current SPC convective outlook:
As of 4:30pm today, scattered strong to severe storms are possible throughout the day on Saturday.
Here is what NWS Louisville is saying...
"...THOUGH IT IS DEPENDENT ON HOW MUCH WE CAN
DESTABILIZE...SCATTERED STORMS SHOULD REDEVELOP IN THE AFTERNOON
OVER MUCH OF THE REGION. IF ENOUGH INSTABILITY CAN BE REALIZED THEN
SOME STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE. SOUNDING PROGS AND
FREEZING LEVELS SUGGEST GUSTY WINDS WOULD BE THE MAIN THREAT ALONG
WITH SMALL HAIL."
And NWS Paducah says (for their region)...
"THE MAIN RISK FOR STRONGER/POSSIBLY SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL COME
ON SATURDAY AS THE AIR TRIES TO DESTABILIZE ....SHOULD HAVE DECENT WIND FLOW/SHEAR ALOFT. MAIN LIMITING FACTOR AS TO THE EXTENT OF HOW MUCH...IF
ANY...SEVERE STORMS OUR AREA RECEIVES WILL LIKELY DEPEND ON THE
AMOUNT OF SOLAR INSULATION RECEIVED. THIS MAY BE INHIBITED BY
CLOUD DEBRIS AND WARM ADVECTION CONVECTION OUT AHEAD OF THE COLD
FRONT."
Doesn't sound like a widespread event, but those with outdoor interests need to 'keep an eye to the sky and your weather radio nearby'.
More updates later...
